2015 Tours You Need To Attend
2015 is without a doubt THE year for every music lover: Releases after releases. And what naturally follows releases? Correct - tours. We've got plenty of those this year, which is both a blessing for our hearts and a curse for our bank accounts. In this post I'll tell you which tours are worth spending your time, money and sanity on.
We'll start off with Swim Deep. I, as a European fan, have waited for almost 2 years for them to get back on the road again and the time has finally come. They're taking their second studio album, Mothers, which will be released on September 18th, and travel with it all over the place, starting with a UK tour in October, that will flow into a EU tour in November. Make sure to catch them at one of their many shows, for it's always a blast wherever these guys appear to play their tunes.
Next up on the list of artists that are greatly appreciated by me is WALK THE MOON. This Ohio-based indie pop band established their status as the next big thing this year, with the release of their album Talking Is Hard and the single Shut Up And Dance. If you didn't know them already from their first widely known hit Anna Sun, you definitely heard of this one before. Whenever lead singer Nicholas Petricca performs he spreads so much positivity by enjoying his time and grinning the world away, you can't help but feel good. Seeing his smile in real life should be reason enough to buy your ticket for when they dance over to Europe this November and December. But in all seriousness, their catchy songs just guarantee an amazing time and who wouldn't want that?
I had the pleasure of seeing Years & Years for free in Cologne earlier this year as part of an introducing event. Needless to say, I'd happily spend money to witness such a show again. The absolute party that resulted of lead singer Olly's good mood and the crowd knowing the lyrics of every up tempo hit was fueled by the intimacy of the venue - it was complete madness. Them getting more and more mainstream recognition is more than deserved, just as you attending one of their UK (and probably soon to be announced European) gigs.
Now that I have, more or less, only mentioned artists you have probably heard of before, it is now time to live up to this blog's name and present you something new for your playlist - Sundara Karma. Everyone that knows me probably can't wait for me to finally shut up about them, but, no chance. Their somewhat psychedelic sound is interesting to first listen to, but you will soon find yourself not getting enough. Especially their newest addition, Flame, gives you an insight of what's to come. It's only a matter of time until this is the band everyone can't stop talking about and you, once again, can come up with 'I've known them first!'. After supporting various known bands, such as previously mentioned Swim Deep, Circa Waves and The Wombats, they're finally heading for their own UK tour and with support from another Reading talent, band Vitamin, enough reasons have gathered for you to get yourself down to one of those shows.
Last but not least, RAT BOY. What was that? Groaning? Yes, I must admit, this boy has probably defined the word Hyped new in the past few months, but, how I think, well deserved. No one really knows where he came from and why everyone suddenly seems to know him, but he's a fun guy making fun music and that, for me, is reason enough. With various tweets and Facebook posts after his gigs, talking about how once again an ambulance had to come and security was angry with him for getting his fans in danger by encouraging them to actively riot, I don't think I have to tell you more about why you should go to one of his shows. Even if you're not necessarily into his music, his gigs will probably go down in history and everyone wants to destroy something while angry guitar music is playing in the background, let's be real.
