Artists To Watch - September 2015
For the sake of new indie music that gets thrown at us on a daily basis, I picked out 7 artists to watch to make it easier for you and our kids to come to look through the jungle that is new music. From British synth-pop to Norwegian dark indie: Here are 7 artists you need to know about in September 2015:
1. Model Aeroplanes
The four piece from Dundee, Scotland personally describe their sound as "music you can drink cocktails to" and they hit the nail right on the head with that. They have already supported a bunch of established bands, such as Little Comets and Saint Raymond on tour, who believe in their success just as much as I do. If you want to listen to summer-y tunes to try ignore the fact it's getting colder by the second, you won't get around this band, who offer a wide range of upbeat songs you can spend a warm summer night with (in your head).
2. Aurora
This 18-year-old singer songwriter from Norway is destined to blow up. Her songs have that sit on a hill, have a cigarette, watch the sun set and reflect on life kind of vibe to them. Especially "Running With The Wolves", which is linked down below, is just meant for the radio and will help her get the attention she deserves. It's fascinating how such a young artist has already got such impressive lyrics that go hand in hand with the dark forest sound she's going for. The incredibly loveable teenager is soon going to be discovered by the mainstream and you can't help but be happy with and for her.

3. Sundara Karma
The dreamy, almost psychedelic sound of this Reading-based quartett juxtaposed with dark vocals is finally something new in the indie horizon. Their single Freshbloom, that appears on their first EP "EP1", a very simple held name in contradiction to their band name, reminds you of a slower version of a The Smiths song, hence why it gives you a nostalgic feeling whilst their sound remains modern still. With support from Circa Waves and Swim Deep, they have already got big names on their fan list and you should definitely jump onto that band wagon.

4. Pretty Vicious
The Welsh band already made BBC Introducing believe in them, recently signed a major record deal and got played by Radio 1's (now former) DJ Zane Lowe - and all of that at a tender age of 16 and 17! Being relatively new to the scene as well - their first gig ever was in December last year - they are now playing big festivals such as Isle of Wight. Their heavy guitar sounds with rocky vocals is something you should definitely catch live if you want the feeling of liberty from gigs from the early 90's.

5. The Wytches
The Brighton-based trio bring back the good ol' garage punk combined with a hard-hitting surf-rock. If you're in the mood to throw over the government, this music is going to be your perfect anthem. Taking some inspiration for their debut album, Annabel Dream Reader, from poet Edgar Allan Poe, this band is on a completely different level of edgy. They interpret different genres and play their music in their own way and stay in the minds of every listener with just that technique.

6. Iceage
Four young Danish boys and punk. Need I say more? Technically, no, but, I will. These guys started making music in 2010 out of pure boredom and it might just be the best thing that has ever gotten out of being bored. With pictures of bloody noses that surfaced during their 2011 US tour they quickly got the image of 'teenage bullies full of anger and anxiety' going for them, but, they couldn't care less. They have now just finished a massive world tour but with their enthusiasm I'm sure it won't take long until they play their tunes for you again. Listen to their song Burning Hand below to be prepared:
7. Prides
Synthpop from Scotland is the last essence we need for a cozy September. The band, consisting of Stewart Brock (vocals, keyboards), Callum Wiseman (guitar, keyboards, vocals) and Lewis Gardiner (drums, production) makes songs that are an easy listen and exactly that kind of music you can't help but tap your foot to when listening to on the way home. Formed in 2013 and already signed to Island Records, this band have big things to come and we're patiently waiting for it while listening to their debut album, The Way Back Up, which was released on July 10th.
